Mitsubishi City Multi VRF System Installation for 59-Unit Apartment Building in Chilliwack, BC
April 9, 2026
Thermacool Mechanical Ltd. recently completed a large-scale commercial HVAC installation in Chilliwack, BC, featuring a high-efficiency Mitsubishi City Multi VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) system designed to provide reliable heating and cooling for a 59-unit apartment building.
Our team was responsible for a significant portion of the mechanical installation and layout, including all refrigerant piping and lineset installation, pressure testing, system evacuations, refrigerant charging, control wiring, and full system startups and commissioning.
The project consists of five independent VRF systems, each serving different areas of the building for optimal zoning and energy efficiency. Each system includes paired (twinned) outdoor condensers working together, along with branch boxes installed on every floor, allowing precise temperature control throughout the building.
This system was selected to deliver efficient, scalable heating and cooling across all residential units, improving tenant comfort while reducing overall energy consumption. VRF systems are ideal for multi-family buildings due to their ability to provide simultaneous heating and cooling, quiet operation, and long-term reliability.
This installation supports the building’s long-term performance goals by offering a modern, energy-efficient HVAC solution that minimizes operating costs and ensures consistent comfort for residents year-round.
